Saturday December 27th was a night of crazy fun! The Underscore in NYC was taken over by the dancing ways of the Wounded Buffalo Theory, Hippocampus and The Black Spiral Crew – DJ Torn Asunder, DJ Robonitronicus and Blacklite. The night was a CD release party for WBT latest album – It’s Alright, It’s Not Alright – the first studio album featuring newest member Lucas Shine as well as new material by all members. It was a night of drinking, fun, dancing and hard-core rocking face!
Torn Asunder starting things off with a little set of some in-your-face Psy-Trance while Blacklite was setting up. After the crowd was nice and primed Blacklite punched things up with his best show yet! The club was packed and everybody was itching to get things going and with the energy tight Blacklite got it pumping. Before anyone could get too comfortable the dance-floor was moving and the screams and hollers were flying! Christmas jingles could be heard wrapped up in DIY electro-house inspired sonicscapes and the 4-to-the-floor had the house moving. Screams could be heard for “Jesus!” – No, no miracle, just Blacklite. It was an amazing night for everyone. Thanks to WBT for having the shindig and everyone for coming out!

Following Blacklite the CT based Trance-Rock-Jam band Hippocampus came out and gave NYC its first taste of their wild dancing ways! Blacklite could be seen throwing it down extra hard and before anyone even realized – there was a dance party! Hearts were pounding to the rhythms and pulses were throbbing. Then before they left us the campus gave us all what we wanted – their own brand of “What Is Love” and The Underscore lost it. Thank you Hippocampus for making that trek out here to rock our socks off!
After (and before) the Hippocampus, DJ Robonitronicus laid down the sweet sweet pumping sound of Electro-House and those of us who hold it so dear, we threw it down as hard as ever and loved every second of it. It was short but to the point – dance! Thank you Robonitronicus for giving me all I ever want out of life – Electro-House.
As if things were not moving already the night had only just begun! That great lumbering multi-genre’d danceaholic beast known only as Wounded Buffalo Theory came out in great force! They attacked the crowd with one after the next of pure dance-rock in-your-face awesomeness! Then! Suddenly! As if their sonic-weaving was too much already they did the unthinkable – Performed their latest album (It’s Alright, It’s Not Alright) from start to finish. It was breath taking! By the end the club was gasping but our ears were yearning for more.
It was an amazing night of amazing music – sonic sculptures were carved out of air and fabric frequencies were weaved into our minds. Thanks again to everyone who came out and danced/drank/stumbled/performed or otherwise just had a good time!
